La Pradera Coffee Farm is located in Aratoca, Santander Province.
It is a decaffeinated coffee made from fully ripe Castillo and Caturra varieties with a sugar content of 23%, grown in a wonderful environment with low humidity, sunshine and cool breezes at night.

It is a delicious decaffeinated coffee with a sweet, long aftertaste.

Descamex's Mountain Water decaffeination process is certified organic and is a safe decaffeination system that does not use any scientific solvents.

It is also good for children, during pregnancy, and people who are sensitive to caffeine.
Recommended for black coffee as well as café au lait!

WHAT IS " MOUNTAIN WATER PROCESS " ?

Mountain Water Process coffee is sent for decaffeination at a facility called Descamex in Mexico.
This unique non-chemical decaffeination process uses the clear waters from the highest mountain in Mexico, the Pico de Orizaba to gently remove the caffeine from the green beans.
In the decaffeination process, the green coffee beans are immersed in water in order to extract the caffeine. The water contains the soluble components of the coffee beans which holds the elements of the flavour, so that, during the extraction of the caffeine the beans maintain their original components.

To separate the caffeine from the water containing the soluble components, the water passes through a special filter which removes the caffeine. This results in “coffee solid solubles charged water” saturated with the flavor components but free of caffeine, which is used again in the extraction process.
As a result of this process we obtain coffee beans that are 99.9% caffeine free. Once the decaffeination process is finished, the beans are dried and packed, and ready to export.
